UW Receives Award For Alcohol Prevention Work

The University of Wyoming has received a national Award for its effort to reduce alcohol abuse. Two national organizations, Outside the Classroom and United Educators, presented the Presidential Leadership Award to UW President Tom Buchanan for his role in promoting alcohol education and prevention.

Outside the Classroom CEO Brandon Busteed says UW has seen significant improvements in student alcohol behaviors and consequences.

From 2007 to 2009, binge drinking by UW students dropped by 24 percent, and there was a 40 percent decrease in student drunk driving.
