The Powder River Basin Resource Council in conjunction with the Wyoming Wilderness Association sponsored a presentation Thursday night at the Sheridan College CTEL entitled “But This is Home: Wyoming, The Energy State.” Professor Emeritus of Science Education at the University of Wyoming Duane Keown spoke on the history of the energy industry in Wyoming and the negative impacts that coal extraction can have on wildlife, the National Parks and wilderness areas.

Keown feels that extreme extraction of fossil fuels in Wyoming threatens America's remnant herds of large herbivores and the habitats that sustain them.

Keown's program was presented by the Wyoming Humanities Council as part of its 2010 Humanities Forum.
