UW Enrollment Numbers Increase Over Last Spring

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming reports that
spring enrollment increased nearly 6 percent over the same time last year to about 12,500 students.
The enrollment numbers include an increase of about 500 students at the main campus in Laramie.
Vice President of Student Affairs Sarah Axelson attributes the increase to the state's Hathaway Scholarship program for Wyoming students. She also says the increasingly competitive job market plays a role. Students attending the university to earn a second bachelor's degree increased by 89 students to 366 this spring. Graduate student numbers increased from 314 last year to 411 this year. Former UW undergraduates students who attended school but didn't graduate increased by 79 students to 233 this spring.
