Hatchery Fire 60% Contained

The Hatchery Fire, burning 7 miles east of Tensleep, is now at 60% containment. Crews continued to mop up the fire edge and conducted firing operations along hand lines in order to limit the fire’s spread. A total of 2775 acres have been burned but no structures are threatened. U.S.

County Airport Closed for Runway Work

Sheridan County Airport was closed Saturday afternoon and will be closed for several days this week so work can be done on runways.

Commissioners Approve Application for Grant to Trim Trees

Sheridan County commissioners have authorized Sheridan County Airport Manager John Stopka to apply for a grant from the state to trim trees around the airport.

Dayton Days

The 40th Annual Dayton Days will take place this Friday and Saturday. Events will include the Cow Pie Classic, two parades, and a pancake breakfast.

Arden Fire Grows Slightly

Burning just 35 miles east of Greybull, the Arden Fire has now consumed 553 acres of heavy timber. Currently at 40% contained, the blaze has yet to threaten any structures. Officials have also determined that lightning started the inferno.

Hatchery Fire Update- 07/25/16

The Hatchery Fire, burning 7 miles northeast of Ten Sleep is now at 40 percent containment as of 9 o’clock last night. Highway 16 in both directions and North Brokenback Road are now open. Fire crews continue to construct direct and indirect fire lines across the fire perimeter.

So, there I was. Hiking as fast as I could at 9,642 feet above sea level. This was a spooky, surreal and spiritual place. This is America’s Stonehenge, the famous Medicine Wheel, high in the mountains between Lovell and Sheridan.
