Earlier in the year we reported that Sheridan Memorial Hospital had a definitive goal of starting an urgent care program at the hospital. With construction slated for next month and since a preliminary start date of August 5 was introduced at Wednesday's meeting of the hospital's board of trustees, urgent care is coming.
Hospital CEO, Mike McCafferty, says there are still plenty of things that need to be done before the first urgent care patients can be seen.
He says there is a definite need in the community for an additional urgent care facility and it would be more appropriate for those patients that need medical attention, but do not need to be seen by the emergency department.
McCafferty says the board of trustees and staff will get together in the near future to work out the details regarding the upcoming service.
