Residents in Story and the south end of Sheridan experienced loss of power briefly this morning, according to Montana-Dakota Utilities spokesman Mark Hanson.
The first outage occurred in Story at approximately 4 o'clock, and was restored by about 5:15 am. Hanson says sixty-five customers experienced the outage, a cause for which is unknown.
Hanson says that crews examined the line and could find no obvious cause; they re-fused the line and power came back on.
In south Sheridan, Hanson says a transformer on a substation blew at around 7:20 this morning, affecting 1,440 customers. All but twenty-three had their power restored by 8:15; the remaining customers had their power back on by 8:45.
Hanson says crews re-routed services through other substations, and that the blown transformer will be replaced with one MDU has currently in stock.
