Turkey Seasons Open in Northeast Wyoming

Turkey Seasons Open in Northeast Wyoming

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is announcing turkey season openings for this fall in Northeast Wyoming.
Hunt Area 3 which includes Sheridan, Johnson, and Campbell Counties opened October 1st and will remain open through December 31st.

Hunters should note that old Hunt Areas 5 and 7 were combined with Hunt Area 3 for the 2012 fall hunting season.

The turkey season for Hunt Area 1 in Crook County and northern Weston County is open from November 1st through the 30th.
General licenses can be used anywhere a general turkey license is valid including areas 1 and 3. There are 218 limited quota Hunt Area 3, type 3, fall turkey licenses available for those seeking an opportunity to harvest an additional turkey.
Most turkey hunting in Hunt Area 3 is found on private land, so hunters are reminded to obtain access permission from landowners. There are some limited opportunities for hunters to help address a turkey damage situation near Sheridan. Call the Sheridan Regional Office at 672-7418 for more information.
Wild Turkey Hunt Area 1 includes the Black Hills area near Sundance, where more public land is available to hunters.
