The Sheridan Community Land Trust is looking for volunteers of all ages and abilities this Saturday to help with the Soldier Ridge Trail west of Sheridan. Land Trust Executive Director Colin Betlzer says that all volunteers need to do is put one foot in front of the other.
Earlier this summer, several trail building crews laid the ground work for the 4.5 mile single track non-motorized trail. Once again, if you'd like to help with Saturday's “Trail Trudge”, you can sign-in at the rear parking lot of Sheridan Memorial Hospital near the cafeteria entrance between 8 am and 11 am. A trolley will shuttle people to the trailhead where volunteers can walk from one to three hours.
Betzler said that the final phase of the project will include finishing the trailhead and the legal component of the trail easement and that they hope to have the Soldier Ridge Trail open to the public sometime in August.
