A tragic event was avoided Wednesday in the Big Horn Mountains, as search and rescue crews from Sheridan, Johnson, and Big Horn Counties converged on the mountain to locate several missing individuals. Sheridan County Sheriff Dave Hofmeier says they received a call early Wednesday morning.
Hofmeier indicated that two of the individuals were male, and one was a female. Rescue crews located the three at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon and transported them to Bear Lodge. Hofmeier said that aside from one of the individuals sustaining a minor injury, all three were okay despite the freezing cold temperatures that they endured.
Hofmeier has this advice for anyone that recreates in the Bighorn Mountains.
Hofmeier also said that he was very proud of all of the volunteers who helped make the search a successful one, in particular the men and woman of Sheridan County Search and Rescue.
