The kick-off for this year's Toys for Tots program will be Friday, November 12th during the 235th anniversary celebration of the US Marine Corps, to be held at the Historic Sheridan Inn. A collection box for the toys will be located at the Inn, as well as at locations from one end of Sheridan to the other.
Master Sergeant Jim Craig, a retired Marine who has worked with Toys for Tots locally for ten years, tells us what happens mid-December when the toys will be distributed.
The sky is pretty much the limit as far as the types of toys that can be donated, although they do have to be new and unopened, Craig says.
Toys are accepted for infants up through teens. For pre-teen and teen girls, accessories and cosmetics are always a plus; for boys in that age group, sporting goods, outdoor equipment. And both enjoy DVDs and CDs of the latest movies and music.
Of course, monetary donations are critical as well, as Jim explains.

The Toys for Tots boxes will be set up at the following locations the week of November 15th: The Powder Horn Clubhouse, Albertsons, WalMart, Walgreens, Perkins, The Fire Station, Pinnacle Energy and K-mart. If you would like to host a drop box, please call MSgt Craig.
