Prevention specialist Thom Gabrukiewicz with Sheridan County's Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention said Tuesday's town hall meeting was a success in terms of learning about the community's attitudes towards drugs and alcohol.
Gabrukiewicz said he received close to 300 individual responses in a recent survey. The information gathered from the survey - and from the town hall meeting - painted a similar picture of what substance causes the most problems locally.
Sheridan Police Chief Richard Adriaens attended the meeting and Gabrukiewicz said he shared some startling statistics.
In the upcoming months, the alliance will be working on ways to tackle the issues related to substance abuse in our community. Gabrukiewicz said one possible idea - an idea that was brought up at the meeting - is to offer a mentoring program.
The next meeting of the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention will be on Monday, October 29 at noon at the Holiday Inn. To learn more about the group's upcoming events, visit http://www.facebook.com/pages/Al....
