The new cardiac catheterization lab at Sheridan Memorial Hospital is almost complete as the hospital is hoping to have the area open in several weeks. Cath Lab Coordinator Jennifer Rasp-Vaughn says that the lab is a huge step forward in providing cardiac care in Sheridan.
The area of the hospital where the new cardiac cath lab is located will be a great benefit to the patients explains Rasp-Vaughn.
The total cost of the project is $3.8 million. A gift of almost $2 million was recently received from the Lorraine Hussman Trust for Cardiac Care. The cath lab is part of the Big Horn Heart Center, which the hospital opened in 2010.
There are two cardiologists that provide services through the Big Horn Heart Center, Dr. Michael Brennan and Dr. Joseph Garcia. Rasp-Vaughn said that they'll be taking their first patients in the new lab January 22nd.
