As the country music group Sugarland performed in the RimRock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings Monday evening, tornado sirens were going off in the Heights area of the city. Emergency crews reported that a tornado had been spotted near Laurel, Montana.
The Billings Gazette reports that concert officials were being updated every five minutes and were ready to “pull the plug” on the show if necessary; fortunately, the show concluded without incident.
The Gazette goes on to say that as of 10 o'clock Monday night, Duane Winslow, Director of Yellowstone County Emergency Services indicated that no severe damage or injuries had yet been reported. He also, it says, sounded the tornado warning sirens once funnel clouds were spotted south of town.
