A TIPs training class will be happening this Saturday in Buffalo at the Sheridan College in Johnson County campus from 9 am to 3 pm.

TIPs stands for Training in Intervention Procedures and is being offered to area alcohol servers as another tool to help them perform their jobs.

Bill Hawley, with the Community Resource Center in Buffalo, is one of the certified trainers for the program, and he tells us more about the class.

The program, with Hawley and the other certified trainers Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder and Police Officer Angela Lloyd, has trained over 100 bartenders, servers, managers and owners in the TIPs Program just in the last 15 months, Hawley said.

The class is free of charge and those attending the class will receive a three-year certification from TIPs. Those who take the class will need to bring snacks, sandwiches or some kind of sack lunch as they will work through lunch to try ato get done earlier than 3pm.
