All eyes were up front and center as Jar Jar Binks, Gizmo, and Chinvador entered the Pavilion at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Tuesday afternoon. The tiny threesome, made up of two chinchillas and one lonely hamster, were the entire line-up for the 4-H Pocket Pet Show.
Laura Hamilton, mom of contestants Samantha and Patrick Hamilton, explains why the family picked the pricey crepuscular creatures – chinchillas that is.
4-H intern Stephanie Stimpson says the pocket pets category allows city kids to also be a part of the 4-H program.
All the contestants were in agreement on one particular trait that all of their pets shared: orneriness. 8-year-old Patrick Hamilton explains.
Samantha Hamilton’s chinchilla “Jar Jar Binks” was awarded the Grand Champion for the Pocket Pets Show.
Reserve Champion was 14-year-old Michelle Jordan with her Teddy Bear hamster named “Gizmo,” and first place in the scrapbooking portion of the Pocket Pets Show went to Patrick Hamilton.
