During a ceremony in Cheyenne Friday night Dr. Seymour Thickman of Sheridan was one of four to accept a Governor's Art Award.
Comments sent in a media release from the Wyoming Arts Council, are from Ron Krikac, who is on the Sheridan Arts Council. He says Thickman is deserving of such an honor.
According to the release governor mead and other state leaders chose Thickman “...for his hard work in bringing music and culture to areas of Wyoming that would not otherwise have the opportunity to be exposed to such as well as his generosity as an arts patron.”
Governor Mead at a national Governor's Association meeting in Washington D.C. and was unable to attend the ceremony. Former state legislator, UW political science professor and arts advocate Dr. Pete Simpson spoke in the governor's place.
