Theater Guild Tackles Cancer with "Wit"

Sheridan's Civic Theater Guild will start performing their final production of the season this weekend. Director, Mary Jo Johnson, gives details about the playwright.

Actors from the community will tell the story of a patient ill with cancer and a doctor who's hoping to try out an experimental, aggressive and taxing course of chemotherapy. It's serious subject matter for actors who have day jobs, but there are lighter moments in the script as well.

The Civic Theater Guild's opening performance of “Wit” will be at 7:30 Friday night at the Carriage House Theater. Following performances are scheduled for Saturday also at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. That weekend schedule repeats through the month. Tickets are $15, or $12 for seniors, military and students, and can be purchased at the Wyo Theater box office or at the door before each performance.

A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Welch Cancer Center.

Cast members include Betsy Pearson, Darrell White, Chris Browne, Audrey Foree, Gillian Malone, Angel Dahlke, Elijah White, Brien Hier and Kim Detmer.
