This past weekend at Fort Phil Kearny, just over the border in Johnson County, visitors were treated to guided tours, living history demonstrations, and no entrance fees. It was also a great introduction to new superintendent Misty Stoll.
On the job since September of last year, this is Stoll's first summer visitor season. Stoll explains what makes Fort Phil Kearny special.
Those who remember their Wyoming history, remember the Wagon Box Fight and the Fetterman Massacre and Stoll says she wants to take Fort Phil Kearny history to a new level.
Visitors are given the tools to experience the stories, the history, through the lay of the land plus a little imagination.
An Arvada-Clearmont graduate who left the area for school and adventure, Stoll is glad to return to her roots.
Fort Phil Kearny is open 8 a.m.-6p.m. daily.
