Sheridan's police officers are spending extra time on the streets emphasizing traffic law enforcement this month. Thanks to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Traffic Enforcement Grant, police have enough state funds to conduct an extra 100 hours of patrolling with an emphasis on motorcycle safety.
Non-bikers are reminded to be extra vigilant of motorcyclists this week. Motorcycles can be hidden in a vehicle's blind spot, and should never be tailgated, because they can stop faster than a car or truck in dry conditions.
In 2010, 31 motorcyclists died on Wyoming highways.
