In 2011, Sheridan College purchased the Spear-O-Wigwam Ranch in the Bighorn Mountains for the price of $650,000. The ranch, which is best known for having Ernest Hemingway spend a couple of weeks there in 1928, was purchased by the college to offer students an outdoor learning experience.

During Tuesday's Public Pulse program on News Talk 930 K-R-O-E, host Kim Love asked college Student Body President Trapper Rieniets how he feels the ranch fits into the learning experience at the college.
