Sheridan Travel and Tourism hosted their Sheridan Area Fall Tourism Association meeting Wednesday at the Holiday Inn. The annual fall meeting is a chance for officials with Sheridan Travel and Tourism to receive updates from their partnerships on success stories in the local tourism industry throughout the past year.
STT Executive Director Penny Becker says it's always good to hear how businesses in the tourism industry are doing.
During the meeting, Becker stressed that their advertising isn't just geared toward regional and national markets.
With the economy still on the downside, it's no surprise that overall tourism numbers remain lower than previous years. It should be noted, however, that lodging tax collections citywide are up 8.3% and the Sheridan Info Center had the second most visitors in the state last year, experiencing a 3.6% increase in the number of people that came through the doors.
