It was another banner year at the Story Fish Hatchery as fall spawning operations recently concluded. Game and Fish Information Officer Warren Mischke says that egg collection was in the millions.
With the sheer number and variety of eggs that the Story Hatchery consistently produces on a yearly basis, the importance of the hatchery to fisheries around the state is immense.
Mischke said that after Wyoming's needs are met, any extra eggs ar traded to other states for fish species not raised in the state's hatchery system. He added that this year eggs from the Story Hatchery will be shipped to Ne Jersey, Tennessee, South Dakota, Nebraska and Idaho.
