Still No Decision On Engineer From Buffalo Council

Still No Decision On Engineer From Buffalo Council

Buffalo's City Council again discussed the possibility of a joint city/county engineer position at their last meeting, but made no decision either way on the matter.

Councilman Bruce Hepp had a number of concerns about the position and brought them to the meeting last week.

Hepp said based on numbers the county released on their engineering work from the previous year, he didn't see the engineer having time left to serve the city.

He was also concerned that the department would need to be expanded sooner than many believe and with the new employees added, costs would then be higher than anticipated.

Discussions also centered around having an engineer on staff. City works employee Ken Durfee, sitting in for Supervisor Les Hook, said he wasn't ooposed to an engineer either way, but still felt it would be necessary to have a city works department employee at overseeing the work being done.

He explains.

The council, after finishing the discussion, chose to table the issue until the next council meeting October 4th to discuss the matter further.
