State Superintendent Hill on Report Critical of WDE: "At Best Conjecture"

State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Cindy Hill, said her department is keeping track of inaccuracies found in a report filed last week. The disputed report was filed by consultants for Legislative Service Office who served as liaisons between the Department of Education and the Select Committee on Statewide Education Accountability.

The report criticized the Department of Education for the loss of some personnel and said the public entity failed at better preparing students for life after high school graduation. But Hill said this is not the case and that many of its stated findings were actually conjecture - at best - disguised as fact.

The state superintendent said in a media release that she and her team were not given adequate opportunity to review and comment on the report prior to the committee meeting.

The Select Committee on Statewide Education Accountability is scheduled to meet next on December 12.
