A police standoff that lasted several hours Tuesday at the Apple Tree Inn on Coffeen Avenue in Sheridan ended safely as 61-year-old J. Tuck was taken into custody after barricading himself in a room for much of the day.
According to Sheridan Police Captain Scott Chandler, officers arrived on scene late Tuesday morning following a report of a disturbance at the Apple Tree. After several hours of negotiating with Tuck, officers took him into custody, where he was transported to the Sheridan V.A. for an evaluation. Chandler confirmed that Tuck did display a knife, however; nobody was injured during the incident. Although staying at a room at the Apple Tree, Tuck is presumed to be homeless. Chandler stated that at this time, Tuck has not been charged with a crime, however, pending charges could include Property Destruction and Resisting Arrest.
