Though it’s five months to county fair time, the staff at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds is busy getting the site ready. Jamie Ringley is the fairground’s director. He says various groups are already meeting monthly to plan events and line-up stock show supervisors and judges.
Also, he says they’re re-surfacing the parking lot and updating part of the watering system. By fair time, he says visitors will see a new roof on the office, new floor in the pavilion with re-painted seating and a new announcer’s box at the fairgrounds, which is located on Victoria.
He says the open-class book for entries like photography, cooking and crafts is nearly ready to go to the printer and the 4-H rule book for participants will be done by April.
The fair runs this year from July 31 through August 4. He says this year, once again, pig wrestling will be one of the highlight shows, along with match bronc riding, and a concert. The performer, however, has not yet been booked for the event.
