It's St. Patrick's Day. While many Americans celebrate with green beer and green t-shirts, we took some time to talk to an Irishman about the holiday's origins.
That was our resident Irish corespondent, Alfie Deehan, in the spirit of today's holiday. Who is no doubt in the full swing of activities this morning in Ireland, he tells us how he starts out the holiday as compared to us here in the United States.
After mass it's parade time. Even though there's not one in Sheridan, Big Horn has one that starts around 3 this afternoon....As for you're authentic Irish parade.
Side note: Americans seem to think they can assault (pinch) each other if one fails to wear green, a tradition that comes not from Ireland but was thought up right here by us free-thinking Yanks. Any pinching in Ireland?
He says that parades in America can be even bigger than those in Ireland, and we do a pretty good job of celebrating the Irish-born holiday. Of course what's St. Patrick's day without a little fun, Alfie tells us how the day ends, and was even kind enough to share a little of the Irish music.
