A collaboration of Sheridan artists, Bighorn National Forest and Sheridan College will come together in the Bighorn National Forest Plein Air Celebration of Wildflowers this spring.

The event is set for June 22-27 at the college's Spear O Wigwam Mountain campus. Artists Linda A. Hartman of Sheridan, and Mike Beeman of Cheyenne, will lead the workshops in pastel, watercolor, oil painting and drawing.

Sheridan College will offer class credits. Julie Davidson, the college's director of outdoor education, explained how people can sign up.

Now, others who want to register for the event, but are not interested in college credits can call the Sagebrush Community Art Center at 674-1970, email sage3@qwestoffice.net or go online to www.artinsheridan.com.

Plein air is a French term for artists who paint outdoors – in the open air. Workshop participants can work with either or both of the instructors, and group and individual instruction will be offered. Lodging and meals are available through the Spear O campus, or participants can camp or commute to the workshops. The event will end with an art show and sale of works on June 28 at the Sagebrush Community Art Center in Sheridan.
