More than 200 people showed up for food, fun, and frolic as Sheridan Ice sponsored its end of year free skate and bar-b-que this past Saturday. Fifty degree weather and sunny skies were a bonus as families took to the ice in an end of season hurrah.
Ending its seventh year, participation numbers have grown steadily as more and more skaters take to the ice, especially the free skate which Dave Lawson credits the community sponsors, who keep it free.
Last summer, a seamless concrete floor was installed which extended the ice skating season an extra 22 days and hopes are to start next year’s season around the first of October.
And what’s up next at Sheridan Ice?...Roller hockey. Registration will begin April 24th for both adult and roller hockey leagues with play beginning on May 1st and of course, free skate will still be there on Friday nights and Saturdays.
