Saturday morning, Adopt-A-Block Sheridan teamed up with the local youth group, “Chosen” to hand out 50 turkeys and all the fixings to those less fortunate who reside at Woodland Park Village and in the Avoca Apartments in Sheridan.

The youth group raised the money to buy the turkeys by “bowling for turkeys,” which individuals in the community supported through donations and pledges for the pins the kids knocked down.

“Adopt” means to take one in as their own, and Adopt-A-Block Sheridan has adopted the two areas, going out every Saturday morning, door-to-door, checking on the families there.

Traci Marshall, with her husband Michael, leads the youth group from Bethesda Worship Center; they are trying to instill a spirit of giving in the youth.

This is the third year for Adopt-A-Block and Pam Scott goes out with the group on Saturday mornings, regardless of the weather.

Adopt-A-Block Sheridan tries to meet the physical needs of families, bringing them the tools to change their lives and ultimately our city, one block at a time.
