Snowpack for Sheridan County is Above Normal

The first Sheridan County snowpack report for 2014 has just been released by the Natural Resources Conservation Service of Sheridan County. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has more.


Snotel data as of February 3rd shows on average the Tongue River Basin is at 122 percent of normal and the Powder River is higher yet at 151 percent of normal. Total precipitation at the Tongue River drainage snotel sites is just above average at 111 percent, and total precipitation at the Powder River drainage sites is slightly higher at 128 percent of average.

Snotel data from the other major basins in the state report that most of the basins are near or slightly above normal, with the northern and northeastern basins showing the highest percent of median snowpack in the state. The Powder River basin is the highest, while Sweetwater is the lowest at 69 percent of normal.
