Snowpack Report for Sheridan County

Earlier this week the Natural Resource Conservation Service in Casper reported that the overall state snowpack is at 45 percent of average, which is considerably lower than last year at this time when it was at 152 percent of average. Andrew Cassiday, District Conservationist with the Natural Resource Conservation Service in Sheridan says the numbers for Sheridan County don't look very good either.

Cassiday says that a wet May and June would really help out stream levels since there won't be much runoff from the snowpack.

Cassiday said that the low stream levels could lead to a water shortage in the coming months, which could have a negative impact on irrigators with with junior water rights.
