For some, winter in Wyoming means more time spent indoors, waiting for the frost to thaw. For many, however, it means “snowmobiling season.” With large areas of the Big Horns open to this winter sport, snowmobiling has become a popular pastime for locals and visitors alike.
However, Dave McKee, Rec Program Manager for the Forest Service, reminds us that whether we are snowmobiling, hiking, or skiing, it is important to take heed of a few winter precautions. First, he says its always a good idea to let someone know where you are going and when you plan on coming home:
He adds that when snowmobiling, to make sure you get a state sticker for your snowmobile. He says purchasing the required state sticker helps fund trail grooming and other things to benefit the snowmobiling program.
