Johnson County School District #1 Board member Kathy Smith was presented with a recognition award for completing extensive training as a school board member at their regular meeting Monday night.
Johan Nield, Director of Area 7 of the Wyoming School Board Association, which covers Sheridan and Johnson Counties, made a short speech at the meeting, explaining the award.
Smith was recognized for achieving Master Board Member Status.
Also at the meeting, the board was informed by school administrators at all levels that PAWS testing will be the main focus for the next few weeks until it is completed.
City councilman Bruce Hepp also presented information on the recently completed National Census, saying figures and data will be periodically released and made available to the public. The population trend information and other data, he said, would help the board and school administrators with upcoming decisions.
Hepp also presented Certificates of Appreciation to Clear Creek School and the Kaycee School for their help in getting the public to respond to the Census questionnaires.
