Retired historian and former Wyoming politician Pete Simpson will serve as the commencement speaker at Sheridan College next month.
The alum of the University of Wyoming and gubernatorial nominee will address the graduates from inside the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome on Saturday afternoon, May 10. Commencement starts at 1.
Wendy Smith of the college public relations department said the arrangements were made by the college president.
She said the Cody native served as dean at the college in the early 1980s and held multiple positions at the University of Wyoming, including executive director of the university's foundation. He was a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives for three years, from 1981-1984.
In 2011, he received the Medallion Service Award from the state university, for his outstanding service and dedication. The commencement ceremony in Sheridan is open to the public, free of charge.
