A Status Hearing for Sheridan resident Shawn Osborne was held Thursday in 4th Judicial District Court. Osborne is charged with 1st Degree Murder for allegedly killing Gerald Bloom on January 15th, 2010. Judge John Fenn began the proceedings by stating that when he had scheduled the hearing, he had anticipated having the report from the State Hospital on the Mental Evaluation that was ordered in early May at Osborne's arraignment.

Fenn noted that he had recently granted a continuance on when the report is due, and said that he hoped that the findings would be available to the Court and the attorneys by the first week of August. After that, another status hearing will be held, most likely within five days after the report has been submitted.

When asked by the judge if there was anything new to submit to the Court, defense attorney Robert Jones replied that he didn't have anything of note; however, prosecuting attorney Matt Redle said that the State has received a request in the amount of $2,885 from the Victims Compensation Fund.
