Sheridan's Electric Rates Projected to Remain Stable

Several areas in Wyoming are slated to see increases in their electric rates for the sixth year in a row, but luckily, Sheridan's rates are projected to remain stable. Rocky Mountain Power, a Utah-based company that provides electric service to much of the state of Wyoming and operates a thermal plant in Gilette, is again trying to raise electricity rates. While the AARP and other organizations are trying to prevent the increase, Spokesman for Montana-Dakota Utilities, Mark Hanson, said Sheridanites are in the clear for now.

The proposed electric rate increase for the southern and middle sections of the state would have to be approved by The Wyoming Public Service Commission. Hanson said MDU's rates are expected to stay stable, despite rising costs of fuel, coal and plant maintainence.
