Sheridan Woman Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter Arraigned in District Court

Sheridan resident Caron Avery, 51, was arraigned in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan Tuesday on two counts of Felony Forgery and one count of Involuntary Manslaughter, which is also a felony. Avery pleaded “not guilty” to all of the charges. The manslaughter charge stems from an incident on September 14th, where Avery allegedly killed her 74-year-old mother Nina Avery involuntarily by sitting on her chest after a heated argument became physical.

The two Forgery charges occurred June 26th and August 10th. Avery's Attorney, Erin Wardell, motioned the Court to change the $50,000 cash only bond to a $50,000 cash surety bond. Judge John Fenn denied the motion and left the cash bond as is. Fenn set the trial for all three charges for April 30th through May 3rd.

If convicted on all three charges, Avery faces a maximum of up to forty years in prison and fines of up to $30,000.
