The Sheridan Senior Center will apply for a Community Development Block Grant from the state to conduct a site specific feasibility of the existing Senior Center facility. The Sheridan County Commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday sponsoring the grant application. The feasibility study would follow up findings from last year's needs assessment that showed growing numbers and different needs and preferences of the upcoming generation that will be utilizing the Senior Center.
That's Sheridan Senior Center Executive Director Carmen Rideout, who says that the study will be to determine if the current facility can be renovated to accommodate an increase in clients, or if other options should be considered. The grant application is for $15,000 in CDBG planning funds and requires a 25% match by the applicant, which means that the Senior Center will pay $5,000 toward the study for a total project cost of $20,000.
