Word began circulating Tuesday that members of the Wesboro Baptist Church from Topeka, Kansas would be in Sheridan to protest the memorial service of Pvt. Jesse Cerwick. Sheridan Media News Director Ron Richter had a chance to sit down with Sheridan Police Lieutenant Andrew Conrad to find out if any members of the church actually followed through with their plans.
Conrad says that investigating the validity of their plans to picket in Sheridan was very time consuming while preparing for the groups possible arrival.
So while there were several word of mouth reports of protesters in a couple of different locations in Sheridan Thursday, it appears almost certain that the Church followed their M.O. of announcing a protest, and then not showing up, which is something that they are almost as infamous for as their protests.
