At its regularly scheduled meeting Monday night, the Sheridan City Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of a rezone request for 14 acres near the Wesco Business Park. These 14 acres, if the recommendation is adopted by the city council, would balance out the 37.33 acre tract from a B-1 Business Zone to a B-2 Business Zone.
The tract of land, located southwest of Heartland Drive and Dry Ranch Road, was recently purchased by Sheridan-based EMIT Technologies. Planning Commissioner Monty Webb says Wesco has demonstrated they are a good strong business through the business park and this rezone would fit into the City's plan for economic development.
The commissioners agreed that the rezone would allow for more business expansion in the area and could even improve the appearance of the entryway corridor off of Interstate 90.
Webb has served on the planning commission for nearly a decade, and he says he remembers when Wesco first sent in plans for developing its business park.
The recommendation for approval of EMIT's rezone request will now be sent to the city council for consideration. Stay tuned for more news from the Sheridan City Planning Commission.
