The Sheridan Police Department Thursday responded to a report of a possible explosive device in the 600 block of Monte Vista. Upon arrival, officers found two homemade M-80 sized firecrackers that had been found in the street. A media release issued by the P.D. states that the explosives appeared to be made of cardboard and electrical tape, with a fuse that had been inserted on the side of the device.

During the investigation, officers discovered that an attempt to detonate the device rendered unsuccessful. The explosives were removed from the scene without incident and taken to an area where they were safely destroyed. The investigation of the origin of the devices is ongoing. Anyone with any information about this incident should contact the Sheridan Police Department at 672-2413.
