The Sheridan Police Department reminds local businesses to be aware of possible suspicious purchase requests, especially orders made online. Photo Imaging Center in Sheridan recently received an order online for a large purchase from a Janet Rae Tremel with a Colorado address. Sheridan Police Lieutenant Chris Dahmke says that's when the store owner displayed due diligence.

Dahmke pointed out that with the high amount of scams that are out there these days, in particular from out of the country, they are always available to offer their assistance to local merchants.

Dahmke stated that businesses and Sheridan area citizens need to remember one very important thing when dealing with possible scammers.

Dahmke said that the local merchants have gotten much better at detecting suspicious purchases, and that they always have the right to ask for more information, or refuse to make the sale.
