Staff with Sheridan Memorial Hospital took part in a disaster drill exercise Wednesday.

Sheridan Memorial Hospital conducted a couple of emergency decontamination disaster drills Wednesday. Students from Sheridan High School participated in the training exercise by posing as patients that had been contaminated by an explosion in the school's lab. Hospital Emergency Preparedness and Trauma Coordinator Leesa Belus explains why the training is necessary.

Now that the disaster training has taken place, Belus explains what the next step in the process is.

Belus said that a State Hospital Preparedness fund is what paid for all of the equipment that is needed to to cover such an emergency, and that training was provided by an individual with Response Readiness, which is a private firm that contracts with the State.
