Sheridan Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of a Minor

55-year-old Sheridan resident Curtis Scheckla was sentenced in 4th Judicial District Court Thursday on the charge of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

Scheckla was charged last August for inappropriately fondling a 5-year-old girl at his home while he was babysitting the girl and her 8-year-old brother. After sentencing Scheckla to 17 to 20 years in prison and imposing $3,324 in restitution, District Court Judge John Fenn said that this kind of behavior cannot, and will not, be tolerated.

In other Court news; the Preliminary Hearing for 18-year-old Aline McWilliams that was set for Thursday afternoon in Sheridan County Circuit Court has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 12th at 1 pm.

McWilliams faces two felony drug possession charges along with one misdemeanor possession charge. McWilliams and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Trevor Dunham, were arrested Monday, April 25th on Interstate 90 in Sheridan County, where they were in possession of heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

Dunham is charged with two felony Possession with Intent to Deliver charges and one misdemeanor Possession with Intent to Deliver charge. He waived his Preliminary Hearing and his case has been bound over to District Court. An arraignment date has not yet been set.
