Police arrested a Sheridan man last weekend in connection with a report of domestic abuse. 25-year-old Vincent Scott made his initial appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court this week. Scott is charged with three felony counts; 1st Degree Sexual Assault, Aggravated Assault and Battery, and Child Abuse. He also faces three misdemeanor charges of Domestic Battery, Interference With a 911 Call, and Violation of a Protection Order.
Scott was recently released from jail after doing time for assaulting the same victim. The protection order was put in place following that incident.
Scott is alleged to have waited in the victims’ house and attacked them there. One of the victims is a 5-year-old child. Scott is accused of threatening the life of both victims while wielding a knife during the attack.
Circuit Court Judge John Sampson ordered Scott held on a $200,000 cash only bond. Scott could receive up to 70 years in prison if convicted of all counts. He is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing next week.
