The Free Clinic of Sheridan County held an open house Wednesday night to celebrate their new name, the Sheridan Health Center, and to let the community take a peek at what they've accomplished in the past 7 years. Sheridan Health Center Executive Director Cathi Kindt explains that the next few months will be rather eventful for the Health Center.
The Business Council denied the Health Center's grant application last year to renovate Public Health that would have allowed them to move in and partner with Public Health. Kindt explains what's different about this latest grant application that they've submitted.
Kindt said that since it began in 2005, they've expanded their services from one night a week to Mondays and Thursdays, and that their medical care hours have grown from four hours a week to sixteen. The Sheridan Health Center, (formerly, the Free Clinic of Sheridan County) was started to fill the gap in medical care by providing non-emergency, acute and chronic medical care to uninsured, low-income residents of Sheridan County.
