The Sheridan Senior Center has teamed up with the City of Sheridan to raise awareness regarding abuse and exploitation of elderly citizens.

To kick off this educational initiative, the community hosted Paul Greenwood, a leading prosecuting attorney based out of San Diego. Greenwood has dedicated his career to spreading the word about how to prevent, identify, and stop abuse of some of our society's most vulnerable members. Mayor, Dave Kinskey, attended the lecture because of the issue's relevance within the community.

Kinskey said police receive daily inquiries regarding abuse of elder citizens, whether it be financial exploitation, physical violence, or phone and mail scams. Additionally, he said every month brings new scams into light. The current emphasis on education is designed to get the whole community involved.

Greenwood's lecture will soon be rebroadcast on the Sheridan Channel and YouTube. Also, stay tuned to Sheridan Media News next week to hear details on information presented in the seminar.
