Households in Sheridan received notice from Montana-Dakota Utilities during the last billing cycle that electrical rates went up as of Feb. 4.
Mark Hanson, spokesman for MDU, said this year's adjustment is due to slightly higher coal prices.
Electrical rates for residential homes increased approximately 2.23 percent this year.
