The Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan welcomed seven new citizens at a naturalization ceremony Friday. Judge John Fenn oversaw the proceedings and oaths of citizenship for the new Americans formerly from five different countries, to include Mexico, Germany, Bolivia, Vietnam and Guatemala.
Each new citizen has a personal reason for going through with the process of citizenship and renouncing their ties to their land of birth. One of the biggest reasons is employment.
Jhony Lima, from Guatemala, said it's a lot easier to get a good job as a full citizen.
Another common reason to seek citizenship is family. Alexandra Reile, from Germany, has been living in the U.S. Since 2001, and says her conversion will unify her family.
Here's a complete list of those naturalized:
Jhony Lima- Guatemala
Hua Mei Yang- Vietnam
Martha Maria Novotny- Bolivia
Brenda Belen Soto Ortega- Mexico
Alexandra Reile- Germany
Manuel Fallert- Germany
